An AI co-writing studio for novelists

You direct. The AI drafts.
Nothing becomes canon without your approval.

Tindra turns a premise into a finished, voice-consistent novel — one approved beat at a time. It is local-first, screen-reader-first, and built for writers who refuse to let the machine take the wheel.

For Windows, macOS, and Linux — your novels stay on your machine.

A pipeline with you at every gate

Every stage is a proposal. You review, revise, or reject before anything moves forward.

  1. Premise to outline

Give Tindra your premise, genre, and style sheet. It proposes a chapter outline — you reshape it until it's yours.

  2. Chapters to beats

Each chapter breaks into 6–10 beats. You approve the plan before a single sentence of prose is written.

  3. Beats to prose

Beats are drafted one at a time, linted against your banned-words list before you even read them, and revised until you mark them canon.

Built for craft, not word count

Voice consistency engine

Your style sheet — POV, tense, voice notes — rides with every generation. Banned words are mechanically linted. Approved passages become golden beats: "write like this" anchors the AI must follow.

Story bible with knowledge boundaries

Facts are stamped to the chapter where they're established, so the AI only ever knows what the story knows. A fact review queue keeps canon under your control.

The craft audit suite

Echo detector, rhythm stats, tension curves, scene-purpose audits, a simulated beta-reader panel, character arc tracking (wound, want, need, lie), and a motivation audit that flags plot-convenient behavior.

Humanize pass

A dedicated rewrite stage for rhythm variance, shown-not-told emotion, and dialogue that sounds like people — best run on a different model than the one that drafted.

Promises kept

The promise ledger tracks every setup to its payoff. The thread tracker watches your subplots. The genre beat map audits structure against reader expectations.

Cover Studio

Chat with an art director, generate cover concepts, test thumbnail legibility at Amazon search size, and export a KDP-ready 1600×2560 JPEG. Every image comes with a structured, accessible description.

KDP-ready export

One click produces a publish-ready .docx — title page, copyright page, chapter headings, page breaks, first-line indents. Plus full JSON backup and Markdown export.

Local-first and private

No server, no account, no cloud copy of your manuscript. Everything lives on your machine, and your JSON backups go wherever you choose.

Bring your own models

Connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google Gemini, or Venice.ai API keys and assign the right model to each job — prose, planning, review, humanizing, covers.

See it in action

Screens from a novel-in-progress in Tindra's dark theme. Every caption below describes what's shown, because pictures should never be the only way in.

Tindra's chapter view showing an approved beat: the style check result reading 'no banned phrases found', several paragraphs of drafted prose, and a voice exemplar checkbox.
The writing studio. Each beat is drafted to your description, linted against your banned words before you read it, and stays a draft until you approve it. Mark your best beats as voice exemplars and future prose imitates them.
An echo and rhythm report listing a repeated phrase, filter words, and sentence rhythm statistics, beneath a row of other audit buttons such as character arc audit and beta reader panel.
The craft suite at work: an echo and rhythm report runs instantly on the chapter, counting repeated phrases, filter words, and sentence rhythm, then compares the numbers to your golden beats.
A story bible entry for a lead character showing four labelled fields: the wound that hurt her before page one, what she wants, what she actually needs, and the lie she believes.
The story bible tracks each lead's internal arc, wound to want to need to lie, and stamps every fact to the chapter where the story learns it, so the AI never knows more than the reader.
A novel's overview page with a contents list spanning premise, style sheet, banned words, story bible, manuscript report, promise ledger, thread tracker, blurb lab, cover, and export.
One page per novel, from premise to publication: outline, style sheet, promise ledger, thread tracker, developmental edit, blurb lab, cover studio, and KDP export all live together.

Screen-reader-first, not screen-reader-compatible

Tindra was built with accessibility as a hard requirement, not a retrofit. Every screen is full semantic HTML, tested with JAWS. Generation results, audit findings, and failures are announced — never trapped in a visual-only widget. Even generated cover art comes with structured descriptions of composition, color, typography, and mood, so blind authors can direct their covers with confidence.

If you write with a screen reader, Tindra was built for you. If you don't, you still get an interface where everything is reachable by keyboard.

Questions, answered

Does the subscription include AI usage?

No — and that's deliberate. Tindra connects to your own API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google Gemini, Venice.ai), so you pay providers directly at cost, choose exactly which models write your prose, and never have your manuscript routed through our servers. We don't have servers.

How does the free trial work?

Checkout starts a 7-day trial — you won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before then from your Lemon Squeezy customer portal and pay nothing. Your license key arrives by email immediately so you can start writing right away.

What happens to my novels if I cancel?

They're yours, on your machine, in open formats. Export to .docx, Markdown, or full JSON backup at any time. Tindra never holds your manuscript hostage because Tindra never holds your manuscript at all.

Does it work offline?

Your license validates online and then works offline for up to 14 days at a time within your paid period. When a trial or billing period ends, Tindra needs a moment online to confirm the renewal. Drafting needs an internet connection to reach your AI providers, but reading, editing, and exporting your work do not.

Can I move between computers?

Yes. Your license covers a limited number of devices, and Settings has a "Release this device" button to free a seat when you switch machines. An encrypted settings export moves your API keys and preferences without retyping.

Is the AI going to write my book for me?

Only as much as you let it. Tindra's whole design is the opposite of "generate novel" buttons: you approve the outline, you approve every chapter's beats, and every beat of prose is a draft until you mark it canon. The lessons miner even turns your repeated revisions into permanent voice rules, so the AI drifts toward you — not the other way around.

Which platforms are supported?

Tindra is a desktop app for Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Linux — every installer is on the download page. Updates install themselves on Windows and Linux; macOS updates are manual for now.

What's your refund policy?

If something's wrong, email us within 14 days of a charge and we'll make it right. Details on the refund policy page.
